History and founding
According to the company, Platinum Victory's move into property development began in the late 1990s, during the period after the 1997 Asian Financial Crisis. Co-founder Tan Sri Datuk Seri Gan Yu Chai entered property development in 2000; the maiden project was Pelangi Condominium, a 288-unit high-rise on about four acres in Sentul, launched in 2002 (also listed as completed in 2002 on the completed-projects page). The company then bought land in Setapak: the Platinum Hill masterplan in Melati Utama (PV1 shop lots, PV3 and PV5 condominiums, 2005) and later Platinum Lake City at Danau Kota (Platinum Walk, 2008). The company says its Platinum Hill projects delivered close to 3,000 homes and shop lots.
