History and founding

According to The Edge Malaysia (Feb 2013), the Lim family had worked in the timber trade for four generations before brothers Lim Aik Hoe and Lim Aik Kiat moved into property. During the 2008 financial crisis they spent about RM105 million on 29 acres in Bukit Jalil, Sungai Besi, Kota Damansara and Bukit Rimau, and set up the property arm in 2009. StarProperty (Nov 2017) describes Lim Aik Hoe, a chartered accountant and licensed auditor who earlier ran the firm Ecovis AHL, as having started EXSIM in 2008 with his brothers Aik Kiat, Aik Fu and Aik Keong. The first projects were industrial parks under the Nouvelle banner (Kota Damansara, Bukit Rimau, Balakong, Meru) launched from 2009, followed by residential towers starting with The Treez in Bukit Jalil.
